The Car Shop is a local used car dealership that is totally revamping before Christmas 2006. They want to go "hi-tech," they said, so I gave their website a hi-tech look. It emphasizes their colors (red, black, and white), looks new and sleek, and remains uncluttered. That was my goal, anyway. Hopefully everyone can give me some feedback on this one. I still struggle with font choices, although I am learning what fonts to stay away from. I used Courier New sparingly, just enough to help give that hi-tech look (it is only used in forms and on the navigation bar at the bottom). The picture of the cars in the background is a stock image from sxc.hu used with permission. I have not altered their logo, yet; they mentioned their desire to change the logo slightly yet still resemble this one, as they have a very good customer base and this logo has become very associated with The Car Shop.
Like I said please please give me some feedback so I can improve.
The new submission system is awesome
Edit: The new submission system is not so great after all; I can't upload a preview image of my own (or I can't figure it out), and it took an extremely long time to upload the image. Also, the "fullview size" option is rather annoying, as it defaults to "600 pixels wide," rather than "Original Size."
Not bad, although perhaps the banner is a bit, if not far too large. My thoughts are that the logo should be scaled down and placed at a left alignment - Reduce the hight of the box... It'll save people with low resolutions from the need to scroll... This will enable them to get a full overview of the site and its features. The colour of the driving directions is also not easily read - And my brightness is very high.
Is it an iFrame setup? As in do the links link to a frame embedded into a table? If not, you should consider doing this. - If you need assistance, just tell me and I'll send a pm to you with the info.
As for the banner being so large: I really don't have anything else to put on that page (the homepage), which is why I made it so big. I will shrink it down to see how it looks when it is smaller.
The main frame needs to stay that size so when I put the inventory up people will be able to see at least a few vehicles at the same time. If I were to shorten it up, it would not affect any of the other pages, but my fear is that the inventory will be long enough that no one will want to scroll to the bottom. Although thinking about it I could have the inventory load in a new page with a similar design, only without the navigation section's content (i.e. no phone numbers, links, business hours, etc.). I suppose I will play around with that idea.
As for the contrast of the text: do you have any suggestions for better colors? I checked it on three different LCDs (all at default contrast and brightness), and had no problems, but I don't have access to a CRT to test it. You can view it live here to see if maybe it is just the screenshot: [link]
It's not a major issue... You can still read it... You just might get a head-ache thats all . Have you tried plain ol' white? Might make it stand out a little more...
I have, actually, but just for the headers. It looked awful, because the white stood out so much, but I might try it with all of the text being white. Perhaps I will change the font of the headers and make just them white (leaving the rest the same) to see if they blend in better with a different font, but become more readable, since they are white.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
