This is a quick design I made for the University's Air Force ROTC Detachment (DET 450). The content is just copid from their current website, just reformatted to match this design. They wanted something similar to the US Air Force website (and most of the other military divisions in the US), so I came up with this. It sounds like they will use this design, the only problem is that they need someone to maintain it who is in the ROTC; this means I will have to teach the current guy how to manipulate the design (which should be easy, but he has absolutely no knowledge of HTML or CSS; he just used FrontPage to make the simplest design I have ever seen). Either that or they will have to make an exception, which is highly unlikely, as the military makes no exceptions. The background image is a wallpaper from the US Air Force website; the LC here told me they (the detachment here at the University) had rights to everything on the US Air Force website, and that I could use any of it that I wanted to.
I can't post a link to the live version (yet) as it is not yet official, and they have to get it approved. I am allowed to show the design, but only certain content (what is shown in the preview), and no one can have the live link. That is the way the military works. Oh well.
Anyways, comments, suggestions, or any other sort of feedback are warmly welcomed.
I have never been good with font choices. The Courier New matched the design pretty well, I thought; it gave it the "tech" look I was kind of going for. I used Times NR because I have heard people have a hard time reading Courier New in large amounts (like the actual content and body).
Do you have any suggestions? I am really looking to improve, but this is an area I have always had a hard time with.
Personally I go for simple easy to read fonts (arial, verdana, lucida etc.) but to coney the style maybe some icons next to ther headers? I realise that you do need other fonts sometimes, I'm kinda bad at it too Also TNR isn't that bad there actually, maybe try lucida for headers see how it looks
yeah, I was thinking the same thing regards fonts,
Make headers look like you can press em.
My opinion the CN looks OK for the adress in the bottom left.
The top title, image bit is cool, but very straight edged. Try adding some sort of outline to it or smoothing up the corners (a tad).
Just have a play with it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
