I. Introduction

After having a bit of an incident with the logon skinning community, I realized I needed to remake the "Gears of War" logon screen. Originally I had extensively modified an existing skin, but my mistake was not seeking permission from the original author prior to releasing my skin. I later realized that the original author had stolen work from yet another skinner. This third person was a friend of mine; sadly, I feel he no longer considers me a friend. In his eyes I stole his work, yet I did not know it was his work in the beginning, and, if I had known, I would have sought his permission before even beginning my skin. To make a long story short, I may have ruined a friendship over a mistake that I should never have made.

Which brings me to present time; I wanted to make this skin, but I did not want to further anger my fellow skinners. So I used boss019's "My Very Own Logon" resource skin, which can be found here. I spent several hours changing it to meet my needs and desires. I also made everything anew from scratch, excluding the images that I do not use (I left the blank images blank, as there was no point in remaking those). I created a new splash based solely on an idea I had in my head, and worked from there. The big difference between this version and the original is that I am willing to fix and change this skin based on any feedback I receive. I am always looking to better myself, especially in this field, as I am still a novice.

II. Permissions

Included in this theme is the font "Gears of War Emergence" by Tracer Tong; please view the file "Font Permission.nfo" for distribution information and permission.
Gears of War and the Crimson Omen are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Epic Games, Inc.

III. Installation
-------------------------
You must have LogonStudio (by WinCustomize) installed before using this file (available here: [link]). Extract the GearsofWar.ttf (font file) into your Windows Fonts directory (C:\\Windows\\Fonts\\ by default). Once the font is installed, double click the Gears of War.logonxp file to open LogonStudio. Select "Gears of War" from the list of available logons, and click Apply.

Included in the archive are four backgrounds; to use them you must copy the Bitmap_100.bmp file (of your choice) to "C:\\Program Files\\WinCustomize\\LogonStudio\\Gears of War\\" (or your installation directory for LogonStudio) and choose to overwrite the existing file. The alternate backgrounds are in the folders entitled "Style 1-4;" please contact me with any questions or if you have any trouble.

IV. Usage Rights

I permit anyone to modify this skin for personal use only; I ask that you: 1.) please contact me if you desire to distribute your modified version of this skin and 2.) Give me credit for creating the original. No one is allowed to redistribute this without my permission; if you would like to host and/or upload this to a website (your own or not) you must obtain my consent. The font included ("GearsofWar.ttf") is not mine; please contact the author for distribution information if you plan on distributing the font.
